In wealthy homes, a room is set aside for the use of the ancestors. The Ancestral altar is your first step to making a real connection with the spiritual realms not only with your ancestors but, with the spirits of the dead in general. In poorer homes, it may be no more than a hearth or alcove where family relics are displayed and venerated. Shumoncho (Examination of Religion Register) Shumoncho records were periodic censuses to identify people according to their religion, mostly during the period between 1640 and the 1870s. Once you have made this altar to your ancestors, your altar will become like an antenna for other spirits who will take notice that you venerate and wish to work
This Shrine holds what was once a great meeting place. My altar is both a decorative and a working space, usually decorated according to the season. Tradition has it that a part of the deceased spirit is locked in the ancestral tablet. For this reason, I like to include a shrine to my own ancestors among my Halloween decorations. Every Dunmer needs a shrine to their ancestors! This simple and generic shrine offers a space to RP specifically within one (especially if you have a wealthier Dunmer).
